Mining Borehole Grouting Packer
Installation and Operation
1. Connect the grouting pipe to the check-valve end of the packer.
2. Lower the packer into the borehole to the correct position using the grouting pipe.
3. Connect the other end of the grouting pipe to the discharge line of the grouting pump.
4. Start the grouting pump. As the pressure rises gradually, the packer begins to expand. When the pressure reaches 6 MPa, the rupture valve bursts, the packer seals the borehole, and the grout flows from the packer into the borehole.
5. As the borehole gradually fills with grout, the grouting pump pressure starts to rise. When the predetermined pressure is reached, stop grouting.
6. Detach the grouting pipe from the packer. The packer remains in the borehole.
Safety notes: The packer must be placed into the borehole before use. Operators must stand to the side and never face the borehole opening directly. Start the grouting pump slowly to avoid the packer being ejected by a sudden start-up. The packer is a pressure vessel and must be used strictly in accordance with this manual.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the packer re-usable or single use?
The FKSJ packer is a single-use (disposable) product. After grouting it remains in the borehole, so no retrieval is required. Re-usable inflatable grouting packers are available as a separate product range for applications where the packer has to be recovered and used again.
How does the packer work?
The packer is connected to the grouting pipe and pushed into the borehole. As the grouting pump raises the pressure, the packer begins to expand. At 6 MPa the rupture valve bursts, the packer seals the borehole, and the grout flows out of the packer into the borehole and surrounding cracks.
What working pressure does the packer hold?
The design working pressure is 6 MPa.
Which model do I need for my borehole?
Match the borehole diameter range of the model to your measured borehole diameter: FKSJ-30/6 for 32–40 mm, FKSJ-38/6 for 42–50 mm, FKSJ-50/6 for 65–75 mm and FKSJ-60/6 for 76–140 mm. If you are unsure, send us your borehole diameter, depth and grouting pressure and we will confirm the correct model.
What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?
The minimum order quantity is 20 pieces per model. Production normally takes 15–20 days after receipt of payment, and samples can be supplied for evaluation.
Can the packer be branded with our company name?
Yes. For formal orders your company name or logo can be printed on the packer at no extra cost. Samples are supplied without branding, because the quantity is too small for a print run.
